The development of MicrOsiris grew out of Neal Van Eck’s work as Director of Computer Support for the University of Michigan’s Survey Research Center, and his experiences in teaching courses in “Statistical Packages” at the University of Michigan-Flint. He was the United States member of the Technical Advisory Group for the UNESCO IDAMS (Internationally Developed Data Analysis and Management Software Package) project for over 20 years. He is also a former member of the advisory board for the journal “Computational Statistics and Data Analysis” and was an advisor to the Michigan Kidney Disease Foundation. Neal retired from the University of Philadelphia as Director of Information Technology in 2000.
Susan Van Eck is an Information Services Specialist and spent several years directing the library at the University of Michigan’s Population Studies Center in Ann Arbor. Prior to that she was responsible for selecting new publications for review at Mathematical Reviews, for the American Mathematical Society. She also worked at IBM Global Services for several years, and is recently retired from Siemens Medical Systems.
